About Fireline Mitigation
Jeff Lemelin is the founder of Fireline Mitigation, a California Wine Country based company that uses cutting edge technology to assist estate and winery owners in protecting their properties from the threat of wildfire. For the past 20+ years Jeff has worked in the fire service and currently serves as both a Captain for the Novato Fire Protection District and a Volunteer Battalion Chief for the Sonoma County Fire District.
Throughout his career, Jeff has fought wildfires all over the state of California and has witnessed not only the unfortunate destruction of these events but also an increase in the intensity, ferocity, and unpredictability of these wildfires. Most recently Jeff became a Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist with the intention of helping his neighbors to prevent further loss. He is passionate about empowering property owners to use fire safe building materials, to implement fire wise design considerations, to maintain defensible space, and to utilize the newest technologies that further enhance the likelihood of surviving a wildfire.
Jen Lemelin is the co-founder of Fireline Mitigation and serves as the creative consultant, social media manager, and in-house firewise landscaping specialist. For the past 7 years Jen has served as a volunteer firefighter with the Sonoma County Fire District and has fought fire and defended property in all of the large complex fires within Sonoma County.
Having witnessed so much devastation and destruction within her own community Jen has also been able to directly observe the restorative power of these major wildfires. Her desire to preserve and protect the natural splendor of our environment while also creating aesthetically pleasing firewise landscapes has fueled her passions for cultivating beauty, enhancing biodiversity, and building resilience. When not recharging in the great outdoors of wine country, on the beach, or in the mountains Jen can be found working as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner at San Francisco General Hospital. Rescuing senior pugs, traveling, surfing, and snowboarding are some of her other passions.
Scott Freedman joined Fireline Mitigation to share in the mission of providing estate and winery owners with strategies and solutions to help protect their structures at risk from the threat of wildfire. For the past 28 years Scott has worked in the fire service and has witnessed first hand the destruction that wildfires can cause. Throughout his career Scott has travelled all over California to assist with fighting wildfires and protecting communities.
Initially starting his career as a seasonal Firefighter with the Marin County Fire Department he then gained full-time employment with the Novato Fire Protection District. Scott worked his was through the ranks and now serves as an Operations Battalion Chief. Having observed the magnitude of devastation caused by wildfires in our state Scott became passionate about working with property owners to enhance their knowledge and equip them with the necessary tools to keep themselves and properties safe and ready for wildfire.
Brion Borba joined Fireline Mitigation in June of 2022. He has worked for Calfire for 22 years and currently works as a Captain in Sonoma County. He has fought fires all over the state of California and has directly seen the dangers and destruction that fires leave in their wake. Fires have been increasing in size and severity over the last several years. Seeing that kind of devastation year after year takes a toll on people. It is time to get ahead of this curve.
Brion is passionate about saving lives, property, and the environment. After seeing 20+ years of the damage created by fire, he is determined to be proactive and stop the unnecessary loss. By reading the terrain and surrounding vegetation, he knows what actions and defensive measures can help save a structure in the event of a fire. When Brion is not at work, he can often be found mountain biking and hiking. He loves the outdoors and works hard to protect it.
Matthew Gallizzi knows what it feels like to be "in your space" and be evacuated from a wildfire. From multiple evacuations during the 2017 Tubbs fire, Matthew has seen loss of property and sat with grieving families firsthand. A complete loss from a childhood house fire two weeks before Y2K, one week before Christmas, has also shown him how devastating fire can be.
Matthew helps with strategic advisement, technology and operations. Since the late 90s, Matthew has built solutions that have served millions. From automation for first responders fighting catastrophic wildfires to science laboratories working with the COVID-19 pandemic to a mapping system for an emergency response team, he created various technologies that align to the needs of projects he believes in.
Alongside Matthew’s national awards is his tenacity that began as early as age 9 when he started his first car washing business. He can be found camping in remote places or on his mountain bike when he’s not streamlining operations.
